Winter at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens
Magnolia Plantation & Gardens is one place that you just want to visit over and over again. It is the oldest public garden in America, which it isn’t hard to hold that title since it has been open since 1870. It is known for having a romantic style. It is romantic as far as I am concerned since I fall more in love with it each time I visit.
For obvious reasons, spring is my most favorite time to visit, but winter visits are just as special. The camellias are in bloom in almost any direction you look. A small flower garden always has the current seasons flowers in full bloom. You can take a stroll right beside the gorgeous Ashley River. You step back in time somewhat while you are walking down the pathways and forget for a short while that the busy city of Charleston, South Carolina is just minutes away once you get back in your car.
During the winter, you can walk around and not really run into other people while you are visiting. I have been numerous times and basically had the place to myself. I do like to be one of the first people in anywhere I go, but that is just me.
Magnolia has quite a few bridges that are in the perfect spot to take gorgeous photographs. While I am fond of the red bridge, tons of people love the long white bridge. I know that a lot of proposals have taken place on that bridge. Alligators love to swim around the bridges as well, so always be on the lookout for them.
I will have much more on Magnolia in the future. It is one of my favorite places to visit, so I am there often. Currently the Lights of Magnolia are lighting up the gardens at night. I haven’t been, but I know it looks amazing. One of the highlights is a 200 foot long dragon made out of porcelain plates. It is really something special to see.

Magnolia Plantation is open every single day of the year unless the weather forces it to shut down. It is located at 3550 Ashley River Road in Charleston, South Carolina. As soon as you turn into the driveway you know that you are getting ready to experience something special. It is a place that I hope to always visit for as long as I live.
